What We Learn In the Third Grade:
This is just a very small glimpse of what we learn every year in our classroom.
Math: We have Saxon Math. Each day we learn a new skill along with reviewing the old ones.
Every day we work with the calendar, money, and time. We skip count, have a daily number pattern, problem of the day, and we work with the basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts.
English: We focus on the parts of a sentence; nouns, verbs, adjectives, punctuation, etc. We also work with the writing process.
Reading: We do whole and small group reading. Accelerated Reader and literacy centers.
Science: We study Life and Earth Science. We also learn about the Human Body and Nutrition.
Social Studies: We focus on communities; past and present. We also learn about History, Government, and Map Skills.
Religion: We learn about Jesus’ mission and teachings, the Holy Spirit, Mary, and we review the Sacraments. We also learn about the Feasts and Seasons of the Church Year, the Rosary, and prayer.
